1. Levelling Ramps

It sounds simple, but arriving at a pitch and finding your van sloping can put a real damper on things. Invest in a set of levelling ramps and a small spirit level — it’ll make sleeping and cooking much more enjoyable!

2. Water & Waste Containers

You’ll need an Aquaroll (or similar) for fresh water and a waste container for grey water. Some sites will supply them, but we always recommend carrying your own — it’s cleaner, easier, and one less thing to worry about.

3. Gas Bottle & Regulator

You’ll likely use gas for cooking and heating, especially off-grid. Check that your bottle is full before you set off, and carry a spare regulator just in case.

4. Basic Tool Kit

You don’t need to be a mechanic, but a small toolbox with screwdrivers, fuses, bulbs, cable ties and a multi-tool can save your bacon if something comes loose or flickers mid-trip.

5. Spare Key

You’d be surprised how many people forget this! Keep a spare caravan key in your glovebox or with a trusted travel companion — just in case.

6. Torch & Headlamp

From late-night toilet trips to connecting hook-ups in the dark, a reliable torch (or even better, a headlamp) is something we wouldn’t travel without.

7. Friendly Neighbours

Finally — don’t underestimate the value of other caravanners. Campsites are full of friendly faces who’ve been where you are, and they’re often more than happy to lend a hand or share advice.
